Selena
She was a designer, singer and performer who broke through the barriers of the world of music. She was Mexican-American, but she was also a traditional. She introduced Tejano into mainstream music. Her tragic death cut a hole in her growing popularity and, as often happens when a bright deeply genial singer dies too young, it caused many to grieve her unrealized potential. Over the years, the fans became motivated to do their best in order to ensure that her accomplishments would not go unnoticed. Selena's tragic death by shooting caused a reaction in the Latino Community, similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena is a hugely popular Latino artist in North America, Selena's music has influenced many people across cultures. Selena might have been described by certain people as the Latina Madonna, but she's still a fantastic character model. Selena's values of family life offstage and her participation in AIDS awareness campaigns provide a great example.
